The Painted Veil 1934. Greta Garbo, Herbert Marshall, George Brent, Warner Oland, Jean Hersholt, Cecilia Parker Anxious to see another world outside of her native Austria, Katrin Koerber (Greta Garbo), the daughter of a medical professor, marries British bacteriologist Walter Fane (Herbert Marshall) and moves with him to Hong Kong. There, however, Walter's dedication to his work leaves Karin lonely and bored, and she is soon courted by dashing British attaché Jack Townsend (George Brent). Although surprised by Jack's advances, Katrin admits she is not in love with Walter and begins a dangerous affair.
